Actress Blake Lively shunned a string of lucrative fashion deals after shooting to fame on hit TV drama Gossip Girl, because she only ever wanted to represent luxury designer Chanel.
The star has become one to watch on red carpets since landing a role in the teen series in 2007, and her sharp style recently caught the eye of legendary fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld, who signed her as the face of Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbag line earlier this year.
Lively admits it is a dream come true to work for Chanel and she still can’t believe her luck – especially after being the guest of honor at two special dinners held by Chanel in New York and Paris, France last week.

She tells the New York Times, “I was just having a conversation and I looked down and saw, ‘Chanel: Dinner in Honor of Blake Lively’. It’s crazy. I had other opportunities and I would say, ‘Thank you so much, but I am holding out for Chanel’. That’s who I want to be the face of.”

The Chanel deal isn’t Lively’s only fashion achievement – famed footwear designer Christian Louboutin named a shoe after the star last year.

Blake Lively is Chanel’s newest face and a shot of her first ad has landed. After a photo shoot with Karl Lagerfeld and a week of party-hopping to promote her upcoming Mademoiselle handbag campaign, Lively is now posed in infinity in front of a mirrored wall with a hot, red bag, and there’s more to come.

Blake Lively struck several poses for Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld for her upcoming Mademoiselle handbag ad campaign. The series of shots is set to hit magazines in April, but the first image has already landed and SheKnows has it here.

When Chanel signed Lively as the face of their Mademoiselle handbag line back in January, Lagerfeld called her “kind of an American dream girl.”

It’s become clear that the 23-year-old Gossip Girl star is just as enamored with her photog and the Chanel name. “I had other opportunities and I would say, ‘Thank you so much, but I am holding out for Chanel,’” she told The New York Times. “That’s who I want to be the face of. And people would say, ‘Well, that’s unrealistic, they only hire Europeans,’ and I said, ‘Well, how great. I’ll be the first then.’”

Lively was over the moon when the big shoot finally took place in Chanel’s Parisian headquarters. She was so excited to be striking poses for Lagerfeld, in fact, that she shot her own photo of him behind the camera, according to WWD.

“I have such a respect for fashion and such an appreciation for it that if there are people like Karl Lagerfeld out there designing, who am I?” she asked. “I want to bow down to them and be a representative for them if they’ll have me.”

Lively, who was also snapped in Paris leaving the Chanel store for lunch at Bistro Volnay on March 7, 2011, originally broke into the spotlight thanks to her role as Gossip Girl fashionista Serena van der Woodsen. With more shots to come from the Chanel campaign, Lively is set to hit theaters this summer in Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern. In the meantime, after her success in The Town, she is preparing to take on addiction again in Hick, in which she’ll play mommy to Chloe Moretz.

Gossip Girl actress Kelly Rutherford worries about Taylor Momsen’s racy reputation, but she’s adamant it’s not her “place” to dish out advice to her teenage co-star.

The 17-year-old actress/rocker has come under intense scrutiny for her outspoken opinions and provocative persona, and she has been accused of being a bad role model for her young fans.

Rutherford, who plays Momsen’s onscreen step-mom in the hit drama, reveals she is concerned about the way the young star conducts herself – but insists she doesn’t feel qualified to offer her help to her young colleagues.

She tells Britain’s Grazia magazine, “I do worry about Taylor, but I also think she’s smart and knows what she’s doing. Like Lady Gaga has her persona, I am sure there is an element of persona to it with Taylor.”

“I don’t dispense advice – they don’t ask me for it and I don’t think it’s my place. Lord knows, I haven’t got it all figured out myself yet either.”

Leighton Meester‘s cast mates on the set of upcoming movie The Roommate were convinced the actress was “antisocial”, because she completely isolated herself to prepare for the disturbing role.

The Gossip Girl star plays a deranged student in the thriller alongside Minka Kelly, Billy Zane and Cam Gigandet. Meester used a number of acting techniques to add realism to the role and she locked herself away in her trailer for long periods of time to perfect her portrayal of the loathsome character.

She tells Nylon, “I spent a lot of time listening to music that made me feel a certain way, and I started staring in the mirror and not liking myself.”

And even her co-stars noticed her odd behavior – Kelly adds, “People on set would mistake her for being sort of antisocial. She would isolate herself from everyone.”

The Roommate is due for release next week.

Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley recently caught up with Conde Nast Traveler and shared some thoughts on his recent travels with the magazine.

“The landscape in Iceland was intimidating and brutal: geysers, waterfalls, billion-year-old moss-covered lava, ” he says of his trip to the island nation.

“And Reykjavík’s nightlife is just as wild. At Prikid bar, they played great American hip-hop, served shot after shot of a licorice liquor called Topaz, and treated me as if I were the entire cast of Ocean’s Eleven,” he adds.

The gossip guy also talks about his trip to Southeast Asia; however, his old fall-back is an annual trek to Park City, Utah for some skiing with his semi-pro friends.

Badgley is currently shooting his new film Margin Call, which also stars Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons and Zachary Quinto.

In Nylon magazine’s latest issue Meester shows off her softer side, but don’t let her playfulness fool you.  Leighton tells the mag she had a wild time playing the role.

Production on hit TV series Gossip Girl and Philip Seymour Hoffman’s new movie A Late Quartet was halted on Thursday, after a massive snow storm struck New York City.

The wintry blast began on Wednesday afternoon, and, by Thursday, 15 inches of snow had been dumped on the city, closing local airports and production on TV and film projects.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, New York-based crime drama Law and Order: SVU was also affected – bosses issued a last-minute production change on Wednesday night, moving an outdoor shooting location inside.

The production also provided courtesy “snow rooms” last night for crew members who have to travel long distance to work.

Spokesman Sharon Pannozzo , “If they were on the streets today with all the snow banks, we’d never be able to get the trucks parked.”

Teen star Taylor Momsen is setting her sights high in her music career – she wants to work with Beatles legend Paul McCartney.

The Gossip Girl actress fronts rock band The Pretty Reckless, and writes all of the material for the group.

Momsen admits she’d love to head into the studio with singer/songwriter McCartney – and she wouldn’t turn down the chance to team up with former Oasis star Noel Gallagher either.

She says, “My all-time favorite band is The Beatles for their genius. I’d love to write with Paul McCartney that would be awesome… John Lennon’s not a possibility anymore but Paul McCartney would be amazing to collaborate with.”

“Noel Gallagher. I’d love to write with Noel Gallagher. I’d do a song with all of Oasis but I’d love to write a song with Noel.”

Actor Ryan Gosling has played down rumors he’s dating Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, insisting she is “a good friend.”

The Notebook star was first linked to Lively in October, when the stars were spotted together at Disneyland in California and they sparked further speculation last week when they were seen getting close at the after-party for the New York premiere of Gosling’s new movie Blue Valentine.

However, he is refusing to be drawn on the dating gossip – instead choosing to praise Lively for her onscreen talents. He tells People.com, “She’s an incredible actress; she’s a good friend.”

Lively split from her boyfriend and Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley in September after three years together.

Taylor Momsen has been stranded in Germany after heavy snow grounded flights from a number of European airports.

The actress/singer has been touring the U.K. with her band The Pretty Reckless and she flew to Cologne, Germany this week for a final gig before she heads back to the U.S. for Christmas.

But northern Europe has been hit by harsh weather conditions this weekend, with snow grounding flights across the U.K. and Germany as staff struggle to keep runways clear – and Momsen has been caught up in the travel chaos.

Her flight from Cologne on Saturday was canceled and she now faces a nervous wait to see if she will make it home for the holidays.

In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, “Trapped by snow, flight canceled… I guess it’s another night in Germany!”

Taylor Momsen has apologized to fans in Glasgow after an on-stage blunder which saw her booed for calling the Scottish city the “craziest… in all of England”.

The actress/singer performed with her band The Pretty Reckless in Glasgow on Monday, but the concert fell flat when the Gossip Girl star got her geography wrong.

She told the audience, “Glasgow you are looking good tonight. We are The Pretty Reckless and we have heard Glasgow is the craziest crowd in all of England.”

The comment drew jeers and boos from the riled crowd, with student Paul Krane telling Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper, “The noise from the crowd was deafening. People began to cheer as they presumed she was going to say Scotland, but when the penny dropped all you could hear was boos.”

Momsen didn’t realize her blunder until after the gig and she posted a message on her Twitter.com page to apologize.

She writes, “Glasgow, I love you, I now HAVE to tour SCOTLAND (haha, sorry about the slip up!).”

Country Strong co-stars Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund have sparked rumors their on-screen romance is becoming reality – after the pair was spotted getting close at a Golden Globes after-party.
Meester and Hedlund were “inseparable the entire night” at HBO network’s event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, according to UsMagazine.com.
A partygoer tells the website “She wraps her arm completely around his neck and pulls him for a quick peck on the lips,” and when the pair called it a night, Hedlund was “massaging her shoulders” as they left the party together.

Meester split with Gossip Girl costar Sebastian Stan last year. She has previously been linked to Aussie actor Luke Bracey, her co-star in upcoming comedy, Monte Carlo.

Actress Leighton Meester had the time of her life when she attended Prince‘s concert in New York on Tuesday after the soul superstar pulled her up onstage to serenade her.

The Gossip Girl star was one of the hit-maker’s many celebrity fans in attendance at the Madison Square Garden show, but she got a special surprise when he plucked her out from the audience and brought her up onstage.

And Meester couldn’t contain her excitement as Prince and funk saxophonist Maceo Parker began to sing to her.

Blogging about the gig, The Roots drummer Ahmir ‘?uestlove’ Thompson, who was also at the show, writes on his Twitter.com page, “Prince and Maceo are uh…sangin (sic) to (ugh…the jawn (girl) from gossip girl who is not blonde). She’s about to die onstage.”

However, the actress wasn’t the only star to share the spotlight with Prince – comedian Jimmy Fallon was later invited to join the superstar’s backing singers and add his vocals to a few songs.

Gossip Girl actress Michelle Trachtenberg has sparked rumors of a new romance with New York Knicks basketball star Danilo Gallinari.
The 25 year old, who was previously linked to bad boy rocker John Mayer, has been spotted out in the Big Apple with 22-year-old Gallinari in recent weeks, and even cheered on the sportsman at a recent Knicks game.

However, an insider insists the pair is taking the relationship one step at a time.

The actress/rocker admits she was thrilled when she first heard the song “Blackout” – and didn’t have the heart to tell Montag the history of the tune.

Momsen tells Revolver magazine, “I recorded it with a producer as a demo. Heidi Montag… just recently sang it and put it out as her single.

“I’m like, ‘OK, dude, you’re singing an eight year old’s words, but that’s cool.’

“It’s so funny, because I didn’t shop it or anything and I get this call going, ‘Did you write a song for Heidi Montag?’ And I’m like, ‘What?’”

Taylor Momsen has taken aim at her parents in a hard-hitting new interview, insisting they’re the reason she’s so dark and miserable.

The gloomy “Gossip Girl” star, who is now making her name in the rock world as the singer with cult band The Pretty Reckless, has blamed her parents for robbing her of her childhood.

The teenager says, “Everyone’s like, ‘Wow, why is she upset and why is she so miserable about things?’ My parents signed me up with Ford (modeling agency) at the age of two. No two year old wants to be working, but I had no choice.

“My whole life, I was in and out of school. I didn’t have friends. I was working constantly and I didn’t have a real life.”

Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley was sent into shock on April Fool’s Day this year after an elaborate prank by his girlfriend Blake Lively left him convinced rocker Steven Tyler was his biological father.

The actor is an enthusiastic singer and guitarist and has often queried where he gets his talents from, because neither his mom nor dad are good with musical instruments. So Lively decided to play on his uncertainty and used that to her advantage to make April 1st one to remember by sending Badgley an email from a woman alleging he was her lovechild with the Aerosmith frontman.
She explains, “On April Fools I thought it would a good idea… He’s very musically talented and he’s always wondered how he was so musically gifted without having musically gifted parents. So I thought who is musically talented? Who has lots of kids? Steven Tyler! So I thought, I’m gonna say that he’s your (Badgley’s) father. So I created a fake email address the night before April Fools, without him realizing it was the night before April Fools, and sent him an email saying, ‘I had a child with Steven Tyler. I live in Maryland – where he was born – I’m an English professor. I wanna reach out to you and I’d like to have a relationship with you now that you’re of age.’”

Lively went to great lengths to pull off the joke, and even got Badgley’s mom and publicist involved: “I had his publicist call him in the morning and say, ‘Hey, listen, I got a call from one of the magazines in New York, they got a story Steven Tyler that’s saying he has a child that’s also in this business, that he’s hoping to reach out and connect with and this was his son.’ And I had them play it off like, ‘This is ridiculous.’ So we were laughing all day and then his mom called him later and said, ‘I need to talk to you…’ “
“I saw his whole life flash by his eyes in all of 10 seconds. He was obviously disappointed that his parents weren’t his parents and that his whole life was a lie!”

A collegiate looking Blake Lively filmed a scene for “Gossip Girl” earlier this week wearing an oversized gray blazer, skirt, and sexy heeled boots near Columbia University in NY.

Blake’s new film “The Town” did surprisingly well for it’s opening weekend last week. Star power from Ben Affleck, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, and Jon Hamm helped the film take in a winning $23.8 million in earnings.

Blake stars in the upcoming film “Green Lantern,” playing Carol Ferris. The film follows a test pilot who is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.

Actress-turned-singer Taylor Momsen shocked concert-goers at a show in New York on Thursday when she flashed her breasts in the middle of a song.

The 17 year old teamed a low-cut ripped black vest with a mini-skirt, fishnet stockings and platformed heels to rock out with her band The Pretty Reckless at a Paper magazine party at Don Hill’s.

But it was during her performance of their single “Make Me Wanna Die” that Momsen stunned fans by pulling down the neckline of her top and exposing her boobs to the crowd. Her modesty was only spared by two black pasties stuck over her nipples.

Momsen is no stranger to controversy – the “Gossip Girl” star recently hit the headlines for risque comments she made about pornography and masturbation in a new interview with Revolver magazine. The couple, who play on/off lovers in the hit TV show, ended their three-year relationship back in September, but chose to keep news of the break-up private.

A representative for the pair confirmed the split to US Weekly magazine and revealed they intend to remain “good friends”.
A source adds, “They’re professionals. They’re still good friends and hang out on the set. (They) kept this news to themselves for a while.”

The actress recently talked about her film career. She told Marie Claire, “I wanna take risks, I don’t wanna play it safe. I mean, I could probably make more money if I did more commercial projects. It would be nice to buy an apartment, but I’m 22 and I don’t need to yet.”

Singer/actress Taylor Momsen has spoken out to explain controversial comments she made about carrying a knife in her purse, insisting she was unaware it’s illegal.
The Gossip Girl star sparked outrage from anti-knife campaigners earlier this year  when she revealed she collects the deadly weapons and takes her favorite everywhere with her at all times.

But, now Momsen has opened up about the remarks, insisting she only carries a blade in case she needs it for useful activities – and never uses it as a weapon.

She tells Heat magazine, “I have, like, tons of knives from gas stations – I’ve got loads. When I said that, I didn’t realize they were illegal. Loads of girls carry them – they’re useful. Like, to cut cords, and labels off clothes and stuff. I didn’t think it was a big thing.”

Project Runway star Gunn recently filmed a cameo for the new season of Momsen’s hit TV show Gossip Girl, but he was not impressed by the 17 year old’s behavior on set and dismissed her as a “brat”.

Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick has slammed reports he’s reunited with Jessica Szohr, despite publicly kissing her at a U.S. Open tennis match earlier this month.
The British star, who began dating his TV colleague in 2008, split from Szohr in April but the pair has faced constant speculation they have rekindled their romance. Reunion rumors were further fuelled when Westwick was photographed kissing and cuddling the actress in the crowd at a tennis match in New York last Wednesday.

However, the 23 year old insists he is still a bachelor because he has no time to date.

Actress-turned-singer Taylor Momsen has banned music fans from recording her live in concert – after she was caught on tape baring her breasts at a New York show last week .

The 17 year old was captured on camera pulling down the neckline of her top and exposing two black pasties stuck over her nipples. The footage made it online, forcing the Gossip Girl star to install strict new rules at gigs.

Gossip Girl actress Michelle Trachtenberg is returning to crime fighting for her latest acting role in her own TV series.
The 25 year old played an expert spy and criminal investigator in 1996 kids movie Harriet the Spy.

And now she’s signed a deal with executives at the CW network to develop, produce and star in an as-yet-untitled series, about a young criminology student “with a gift for profiling and a dark past,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Trachtenberg will be working with familiar faces on her new set – Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are also named as producers on the new series.

DiCaprio has been cast in the lead role of Jay Gatsby in the project based on the great American novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Lively is reportedly interested in the lead female role of Daisy.

Several Hollywood starlets are reportedly gunning for the role of Daisy including Scarlett Johanson, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley and Michelle Williams, according to Deadline.

Academy Award-winning actor Robert Redford starred as Jay Gatsby with actress Mia Farrow as Daisy in the 1974 film based on the classic novel.

In a 2000 TV film version, Toby Stephens played the male protagonist and actress Mira Sorvino interpreted the role of Daisy.

DiCaprio, 35, and Lively, 23, were joined by other members of the film’s crew and “didn’t leave together,” a source told the entertainment magazine, watering down speculation the two might have been dating.

Meester continued, “I tried to make it my own, but I was definitely inspired by Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. I went into the studio and sang my heart out.”

“Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively may be a fashion trendsetter on red carpets but in real life, the lanky blonde prefers to stay home and cook.

Lively, at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote her gritty new drama “The Town,” said she is as far as you can get from her role as rich Manhattan teenager Serena van der Woodsen in the racy TV show “Gossip Girl.”

“People probably assume I’m like my character on ‘Gossip Girl’ because that’s what they see the most,” she said, referring to similarities that include living in New York, going to fashion shows and wearing pretty clothes.

“I love going to amazing events and wearing beautiful clothes and meeting incredible designers, but I don’t like to go to parties,” she told Reuters. “I like to sit at home, cook, watch movies and listen to fabulous music.”

As different as Lively’s real life is from Serena’s, it differs even more from the character she plays in director Ben Affleck’s movie “The Town.”

“I don’t have a baby. I’m not addicted to OxyContin. I’m not a drug mule. I’m not in love with a bank robber,” she said.

Due out in U.S. theaters on Friday, the film sees Lively playing Krista, a promiscuous drug-addicted single mom whose life is intertwined with a group of Boston bank robbers led by Affleck and Jeremy Renner.

Donning a Boston accent to play the role, Lively said she related to Krista’s mix of street smarts and vulnerability. She sought to transform the cheap, boozy character with back-combed hair and skimpy outfits into a character that the audience could sympathize with.

“It’s important to do different characters not to prove myself to other people, but to prove I can do it,” she said.

Lively, who first came on the scene in the 2005 teen hit “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” said she didn’t have plans to pursue acting as a career. Falling in love with acting, she now cites Kate Winslet and Julianne Moore as inspiration.

“I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I knew it was not acting,” said Lively. “And here I am acting.”

Last year, she played the younger version of the title character in the indie drama “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.” Next year she’ll star in “Green Lantern”, with Ryan Reynolds playing the title role of the superhero.

Working 15-hour days on “Gossip Girl” and fitting feature films into her spare time means “putting so much of yourself out there to the world to entertain.” Therefore she treasures her privacy that much more.

“What grounds me is: this isn’t my lifestyle, it’s my job,” said Lively.

Looking the part for her new big-screen role was an overnight procedure, Blake Lively has revealed.

Lively plays a drug-addicted single mum in Ben Affleck’s gritty new Boston drama The Town. The actress says getting into character meant not only picking up the local accent but bringing a realism to the role.

“It was important to me to really capture the authenticity of the way these girls look,” Lively said of her transformation.

“Before I would go to work I would put a ton of eye makeup on and sleep in it, and I go to work the next day so it was kind of dripping down my face and it just looked more tragic.”

Lively’s character in the movie is a far cry from the Manhattan princess she plays in the hit series Gossip Girl.

Washing off her street-wise look came as a relief, the 23-year-old admitted.

“It was very nice to wash her away because she was a heavy, tragic, tragic person, and so to literally feel her come off of my skin and my head was a wonderful feeling.”

Bell will make her first “Heroes” appearance in October. She’ll play Elle, a character described as a sexy, mysterious young lady who has ties to the supposed death of Peter, H.R.G.’s past and the future of Claire. Elle will kick off her arc by committing a serious crime, though it’s unclear whether she’s good or bad.“This was not easy to pull off,” said “Heroes” creator-exec producer Tim Kring. “But since we’re an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in (Bell’s) schedule.”

Universal Media Studios prexy Katherine Pope also hinted that landing Bell wasn’t easy, noting that “many studios (were) chasing her in both film and TV” and that she was happy that Bell “chose to star in our show.”

In addition to her gig in the Apatow pic, Bell co-stars in the Weinstein Co.’s upcoming “Fanboys” and supplies one of the voices in the 2008 animated Fox feature “Sheepish.” She also has another regular role on a network skein, voicing the narrator in CW’s new drama “Gossip Girl.”

Bell’s past credits include a recurring gig on “Deadwood,” Showtime’s 2004 adaptation of “Reefer Madness” and last summer’s “Pulse.”

Based on Cecily von Ziegesar’s popular young-adult novel series of the same name, “Gossip Girl” arrives Sept. 19 by way of “The OC” creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. The show is a product of teen marketing agency Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount Television.

Chop Shop Music owner Alexandra Patsavas, who was the music supervisor for “The OC” and currently does the same for “Grey’s Anatomy” and other shows, will apply her deft music skills.

As with “The OC” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” and other shows on the CW, music will feature heavily into the lives and plot lines of the main characters. For instance, promo spots for “Gossip Girl”-viewable on the CW and the Internet-feature Fergie’s “Glamorous” and Aqualung’s “Something to Believe In.”

Patsavas says these two acts are representative of the show’s music. “What ‘The OC’ did for indie rock, we’d like ‘Gossip Girl’ to do for pop,” she says. The pilot episode of “Gossip Girl” spotlights music by Rihanna, the Mooney Suzuki, Hanson, Amy Winehouse, Angels & Airwaves and others.

“I’m relying on old favorites while exploring current pop music,” Patsavas says. “And since the show revolves primarily around high school students in New York, we’ll definitely be using some New York-based bands. But these kids listen to the radio, too,” she adds. “So, there will be that music, too.”

In addition to licensed tracks, the show features the sounds of production team the Transcenders, who composed the show’s overall music, including the theme song.

From 1991 to 1995, she was a graduate student at the University of Iowa. She taught film history and theory while working on her dissertation, “Star Scandals at the End of the Studio Era.”

“I never lived in a town that had a football culture and that Iowa mentality,” the Canadian-born Savage says. “The people there were so great to me. I was a teacher there and I had students who had lived in towns even smaller than Iowa City. It was interesting to get their perspective on things and get to know them.”

Those Iowan views “helped open my mind,” Savage says.

She moved to Los Angeles to do research for her dissertation. “I didn’t intend to stay. I wanted to get my degree and become a professor.”

Instead, she took an internship with Drew Barrymore’s company, Flower Films, and became enamored with the business. “That was an exciting opportunity,” Savage says. “She was an amazing 21-year-old who was starting her production company and wanted to do all this stuff. I got sucked into her dream.”

In addition to working on “Never Been Kissed,” “Charlie’s Angels” and “Donnie Darko,” Savage developed “The O.C.” with creator Josh Schwartz and wrote and produced many of the series’ episodes. Most recently she completed her first feature script for Flower Films.

Now, she’s connected with “Gossip Girl,” a new series slated to premiere this fall on the CW.

A return to Iowa? You bet, Savage says. “I haven’t been back in a while. I miss it.”

Based on the hit young-adult book series by Cecily von Ziegesar, the CW’s glossy new series, “Gossip Girl” (debuting Sept. 19), focuses on the semi-sordid lives of privileged, attractive, Upper East Side private-school kids.

Narrated by the titular Gossip Girl (“Veronica Mars” and new “Heroes” star Kristen Bell), the TV series sees Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) living the high life – ruling the social scene, with hot boyfriend Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) at her side. That is, until her ex-best friend, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), suddenly returns to the city under a mysterious cloud, bringing drama into everyone’s lives and becoming the object of affection of Nate, social outcast Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) and bad-boy playboy Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick).

The series is set to inherit the soapy mantle that “The O.C.” gave up earlier this year – it just so happens that “O.C.” creator Josh Schwartz is also the main man behind “Gossip Girl.”

While scenes like those at the fictitious Ostroff Center, where Serena’s brother Eric (Connor Paolo) is recovering from a suicide attempt, are being shot on sets built at Silvercup Studios’ main location in Brooklyn, they’re adding reality to the series by filming scenes all around the city, too.

“New York City is a character in the story, it’s not just a setting,” producer Amy Kaufman says. “It figures into the energy of the show and the way the story unfolds. We want to see our characters living and breathing inside of these environments – they are who they are because they grew up here.”

“Gossip Girl” goes beyond the yawn-inducing locations that most shows use to prove that, yes, they really are on location in New York. There’s the Central Park fountain, sure, but local haunts like the Front Room gallery and Communitea are stand-ins for characters’ shops and breakfast spots.

“It’s about finding great places to put the kids that feel true to the tale,” Kaufman says. “The story of these kids’ lives is that they’re at a different restaurant or bar every weekend. They’re on the move and exploring the city, so we need to explore the city with them.”

Other shows that teens show a high level of awareness of include NBC’s “Bionic Woman,” CBS’ “Kid Nation,” ABC’s “Cavemen” and “Pushing Daisies.” The CW’s “The Reaper,” Fox’s “Nashville” and “The Next Great American Band” and The CW’s “Aliens in America” also ranked high in the teen awareness study.

The findings come from OTX’s Teen Topix survey, done in conjunction with the eCrush social networking site for youngsters. About 750 teens across the country were surveyed about their TV viewing behavior and preferences during the week of Aug. 6.

Bruce Friend, president of media and entertainment insights at OTX, said some people may be surprised by the survey’s finding that when it comes to learning about TV shows, teens said on-air promotions and other ads are their source of information.

“For all of the hype surrounding blogs and video-sharing sites, it’s important for networks and marketers to understand that a majority of teenagers still get information about new programming from TV ads and promos,” Mr. Friend said.

With teens, he added, word of mouth comes in much higher as a source of information than with older viewers. That word of mouth can come through direct conversation or via technologies as diverse as instant messaging and cell phones.

“Networks should know there are a lot of different ways to reach the teen market,” Mr. Friend said.

One promotional strategy that showed up high on the list was cinema marketing.

“That didn’t exist 25 years ago for TV shows,” Mr. Friend said. Now when he goes to the movies, he sees promos for four or five network shows at cinemas in the AMC, Regal or other major chains.

According to the survey, 51 percent of teens said they typically find out about new TV shows from ads or promos on TV, while 33 percent said friends talk about it and 28 percent said they heard from other kids in school.

Internet ads were cited as important sources of information about TV shows by just 25 percent of the teens surveyed. That ranked ahead of magazine ads, TV network Web sites, talk/news/entertainment shows, radio ads, newspaper articles, billboards, entertainment and video-sharing Web sites, blogs and newspaper ads.

While there are more opportunities than ever to watch TV shows, 70 percent of teens said they planned to watch a given show live, in its scheduled time period on TV.

About 21 percent of the teens plan to use digital video recorders, VCRs or DVD recorders, and another 9 percent will watch via video-on-demand. Downloading or streaming from the Web was the choice of 7 percent, while 4 percent said they’d wait for the DVD to come out. Three percent planed to purchase shows they wanted to see from iTunes or similar sites.

The survey also asked teens about their network preferences. The teens were asked what network most matched the statement, “This network totally gets me.”

Fox, probably because of its animation block on Sunday, was the only broadcast network in the top 10.

Cable networks most often cited by the teens were MTV, Comedy Central, Adult Swim, VH1, Disney Channel, ABC Family, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Discovery Channel and Nick at Nite.

While the CW had three shows on the list of programs teens are aware of, the network itself as a brand didn’t score with the respondents. An OTX spokesman said The CW is probably too new to be well established in the minds of kids.

Meester is likely to break through into the next level of stardom this fall, with her role on the CW’s much buzzed about Gossip Girl, based on the extremely popular books of the same name. Meester plays Blair, the estranged best friend to lead character Serena (Blake Lively). The show, produced by The O.C.’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, takes place in a world of privileged, young and beautiful New York high school kids. Blair is the bitch of the bunch, seemingly having a chip on her shoulder from the moment we meet her. But there’s a bit more going on that is at first apparent, including some history between Blair and Serena that puts Blair’s anger in a new light.

I spoke to Meester for an exclusive chat with IGN about her role on Gossip Girl, and her past work on 24 and Veronica Mars.

IGN TV: How has it been doing all the promotion for the show? I’ve seen you guys all over the place this summer.

Leighton Meester: At first I thought “Wow, this will be fun and easy!” And I’m telling you, it’s work! But I can talk about the show for days and days, because I love it.

IGN TV: Based on first impressions your character will probably be seen by most as the bitchy girl, but how would you describe her to people?

Meester: I think that at first glance, or maybe even second or third glance, she definitely is that quintessential bitch. She’s got a feisty side. She’s really demanding and in control and sassy, and you do kind of hate her. But then you get to know her and you get to see how vulnerable, and really kind of scared and young she is, and you can actually start to relate to her. She’s not all good, she’s not all bad; none of the characters on the show are really either/or. And so the more you get to know her the more you love to hate her.

Article: Josh Schwartz was shooting the finale of “The O.C.” in Pasadena last season when he began to get an inkling about the potential of his next project. “All these teenagers from the neighborhood had gathered, upset the show was ending,” said Schwartz, the young writer-producer who created the gauzy Newport Beach teen soap. “They said, ‘You have to do another show for us.’ ” In fact, Schwartz told them, he was starting work on a television series based on the popular “Gossip Girl” books. “They all started screaming,” he recalled. “I thought, whoa — this is deep.”

Set in the rarefied milieu of Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the novels by Cecily von Ziegesar have an ardent following among teens, who lap up the tales of a set of pampered private-school students and the anonymous Gossip Girl blog that snarkily documents their misdeeds. That built-in fan base — according to its publisher, the 11-book series has more than 4.5 million copies in print — combined with Schwartz’s reputation as a purveyor of smart, sexy teen drama, has helped generate feverish anticipation for the CW television show long before its Wednesday premiere.

After living through the rollercoaster ride that was “The O.C.,” Schwartz and his fellow executive producer Stephanie Savage are trying to stay philosophical about the buzz, even as they fend off perceptions that the show will simply be “The O.C.: Manhattan.”

“One of the first things we talked about was how do we create separation, because the obvious comparisons would be to ‘The O.C.,’ ” he said. “We wanted to make sure as writers there was enough new ground to explore.”

The hyper-speed of popular culture has already ensured that the “Gossip Girl” denizens reside in a world light years away from the one portrayed on “The O.C.,” whose 2003 pilot featured a character using (gasp!) a pay phone. On the CW drama, the teens idly flip open their sleek, candy-colored cellphones to check out the latest Gossip Girl postings. (The anonymous blogger is voiced by “Veronica Mars” star Kristen Bell, who gleefully narrates the exploits.)

The “Gossip Girl” characters are worldlier (and wealthier) than their West Coast counterparts. The progeny of aristocratic New York families, they can converse fluently about art and culture and roam the city’s grand edifices as if they were ambling through their backyards. Schwartz and Savage said they also drew from more lofty influences: The wry observations of high society in “The Age of Innocence” and “The Great Gatsby,” as well as the decadence depicted in Sofia Coppola’s film “Marie Antoinette.”

“Not that we put ourselves in the same literary category, but it’s the same kind of storytelling,” Savage said. “The stories of young people in wealthy circumstances trying to be good and find themselves are endlessly fascinating.”

Blake Lively, who plays Serena van der Woodsen, a popular girl trying to reform her wild ways, recalls that she was one of the only girls at Burbank High School who wasn’t reading the “Gossip Girl” novels. She remembered watching in amazement as her friend paged through one of the books under her desk during an AP Spanish midterm.

“I was like, ‘Why did you do that? The midterm is important!’ ” recalled the 19-year-old during a break between shooting in Brooklyn Heights on a recent morning. “And she was like, ‘Yeah, but I don’t want anyone to spoil what happens for me!’ So I knew there was something catchy about them.”

But along with the books’ popularity has come sharp condemnation from parents who complain the series promotes narcissism, casually depicts underage drinking and sex and glamorizes the kind of bad behavior that has landed stars such as Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears on the cover of tabloids. Critics are now raising similar concerns about the youth-aimed television series.

Schwartz and Savage insist they’ve taken pains to show the consequences of such recklessness in the program. They’ve also amplified the role of the Humphreys, a middle-class family that acts as a foil to the preening socialites.

Still, for the series to ring true to teenagers, “you have to write them realistically, which means occasionally they are going to do things that aren’t necessarily recommended by the Board of Family Viewing,” Schwartz said.

The characters, decked out in high fashion, drink with bored élan. In the pilot, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) drags her boyfriend Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) into her bedroom for an impromptu coupling during a party hosted by her mother. One of the main characters has a predilection for date rape. The debauchery and conniving is reminiscent of “Cruel Intentions,” the 1999 movie set in similarly wealthy New York environs that was based on the French novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses.”

Penn Badgley, who plays Dan Humphrey, the good boy from the wrong part of town, said he was worried about the show’s salaciousness until he read the script for the third episode.

“Until that script, I had that needling suspicion that maybe we’re not doing a good thing here,” said the 20-year-old. “I was thinking to myself, wow, a lot of these characters are just unabashedly scandalous and heartless. But halfway through, the tide started to shift. I was getting chills because it said some things that really resonated with me about friends and family. That was the first episode where I felt like, this has the heart to last.”

Lively, whose role in the movie “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” makes her one of the best known of the young cast, said one main goal is to give her character depth.

“I don’t want to portray her like Paris Hilton,” she said. “I want to portray that she does have substance, she does have things that she wants to overcome.”

Only the strong surviveEVEN so, Serena and her classmates engage in precocious amounts of back-biting and manipulation.

On a leafy patio of a Brooklyn Heights college one recent morning, the cast filmed a scene from the second episode in which the students attend a reception with Ivy League recruiters. From a distance, it was all calm refinement, teenagers in expensive suits and elegant sundresses sipping sparkling water as they mingled with academic types.

But underneath the veneer of civility, the claws were out. Serena entered the room with her mother and brother, surveying the crowd until she saw Blair, her former best friend. They exchanged dagger looks.

“Do you see the Yale rep?” Serena asked her mother offhandedly.

“I thought you wanted to go to Brown,” her mother replied. “Blair wants to go to Yale.”

“I know,” Serena replied with a cool smile, setting off to undermine her former BFF.

The intense academic pressure facing the characters, along with their bouts of typical teenage angst, help keep the show accessible, producers said.

“We’re showing real issues, whether you’re a rich Upper East Sider or growing up in the middle of America in a totally average high school,” agreed Meester, 21. “I come from a very different world and I can definitely relate to my character. She’s got all the same issues — body issues, insecurity, boyfriend issues, mother issues, school, college, friends, whatever.”

As buzz for the show has built, the young cast members diplomatically shrug off suggestions that they could be on the cusp of household fame. Still, as they lounged on folding canvas chairs between takes, they eagerly paged through that day’s Women’s Wear Daily featuring a cover story about the series. Someone mentioned that posters for the series are going up in malls. “Where’s a mall around here?” asked Lively.

Meester said a friend had just sent her a text message saying he had seen her picture on a bus in L.A.

“I was like, ‘Wooow, cool,’ ” she drawled, then hastened to add: “All of us are very down to earth. We’re not going to become idiots if the show does well.”

In this episode we meet all the characters including Blake Lively who plays Serena van der Woodsen.  Serena returns from boarding school to attend the Manhattan prep school she left mysteriously awhile back.  Her best friend Blair Waldorf played by Leighton Meester is not overly excited she returns but puts on a good act.  Also in the show is Dan Humphrey played by Penn Badgley and his on-screen sister Jenny Humphrey played by Taylor Momsen, both attend the Manhattan prep school and Dan has a bit of a crush on Serena.  Nate Archibald is played by hottie newcomer Chace Crawford who is still in love with Serena even though he is dating her best friend Blair.  The bad boy of the show is Chuck Bass played by Ed Westwick who has the attitude and the looks.  Nan Zhang and Nicole Fiscella play the groupie friends of Leighton Meester while Matthew Settle and Kelly Rutherford play the adult figures in the show.

The narrator of the show is Kristen Bell, best known from her starring role on ‘Veronica Mars’.

It’s time for recaps and reviews of the pilot episode and this one from Jennifer over at TVGuide.com is well written with lots of information.  Check out the article below.

Article: Hey there fans of high-school set sudsers, I’ve got some scoop to share: Gossip Girl is one of the best shows of the new fall season. Emmy-worthy good? No, I’m not delusional, but this show is loads of guilty-pleasure fun. With The O.C. having gone off into the sunset and One Tree Hill on hiatus until mid-season, I was worried about where was I going to find my weekly fix of high-school drama. Not that I’ll watch just any teen show (please, I have standards). But luckily, Gossip Girl stepped up to the plate to fill the void, and I’m happy to report it’s off to a good start.

I’ll admit up front that I’m a longtime fan of “teen” movies and TV shows. Years before I was a teenager, I’d watch John Hughes classics on cable. As a teen, I cleared my calendar weekly for Beverly Hills, 90210. I thought this indulgence would finally end post-adolescence with Dawson’s Creek. But it didn’t, and I kept watching. So I now consider teen sudsers a perfectly respectable sub-genre of soaps in general, and realize that I’m not alone because they appeal to a wider audience: eager preteens, those actually in high school; college kids; and the nostalgic post-college set (and by post college I mean anyone aged 22-100).

A further sub-genre of teen dramas is the prep-school drama (e.g., Dead Poets Society, School Ties, Cruel Intentions), and this is the category in which Gossip Girl fits. Prep-school dramas typically mean East Coast settings, super rich kids and tailored school uniforms in warm autumnal hues, and Gossip Girl has all of these staples. It’s set and filmed in Manhattan, and authentic location shots with sometimes gray skies make for a welcomed, edgy departure from the sunny O.C. sunshine. The show is based on Cecily von Ziegesar’s Gossip Girl series of books (I read part of the first one as “research” for this), but those who haven’t read any of the books won’t be lost at all. As with all adaptations, some characters had to be cut and changes made (I know some people are upset that little Jenny is not as well-endowed as she’s described to be in the books), but the transition from the page to the small screen seems to work well overall.

That’s Kristen Bell giving voice to the all-knowing Gossip Girl of the title, using a perfectly executed snarky tone. The first scoop she shares is that It Girl Serena van der Woodsen (her name just oozes money) is suddenly back in town, after leaving under mysterious circumstances for boarding school just one year ago. You’d think the blonde, beautiful, boyfriend-stealing Serena would be easy to hate, but I find her quite likable. Blake Lively gives her a down-to-earth quality, yet keeps an air of mystery to her. She’s a bad girl trying to reform, and it’s hard not to root for that. Not so likable: her best friend Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester). There are many reasons to feel bad for Blair: her best friend abruptly left town without telling her; her mother overemphasizes the importance of looks; and her longtime boyfriend and best friend both betrayed her when they slept with each other last year. And yet, instead of inspiring empathy, she comes off as sort of a bitch. There’s a fun complexity to that.

So who’s the boy who’s tearing two best buds apart? That would be Nate Archibald (Chance Crawford), who resembles a young Josh Hartnett. So far he seems a little blah and unworthy of such a major catfight, but I suppose his character just needs more time to develop. He comes off as a bit shy and is easily controlled by his dad. Oh, and he cheated on his girlfriend. But he’s still not as bad as his pal Chuck Bass, the classic apathetic, wealthy bad boy. Ed Westwick’s performance is reminiscent of James Spader’s in Pretty in Pink, in which he played the ultimate “I-toy-with-people-because-I’m-rich-and-bored” sleaze. In the pilot episode alone both Serena and Jenny have to fight him off. He delivers smarmy yet observant lines such as, “What we’re entitled to is a trust fund, maybe a house in the Hamptons, a prescription drug problem, but happiness…does not seem to be on the menu. So smoke up, and seal the deal with Blair cause you’re also entitled to tap that ass.” Every good soap needs some villains, and he’s got potential to be a great love-to-hate-him character.

On the flip side, you also need some good guys, and that’s where Dan and Jenny Humphrey come in. This brother and sister aren’t quite as rich as the rest of the kids, yet their struggling musician/small art-gallery owning dad manages to send them to private school because he values education. Rufus (Matthew Settle) is a fine example of the teen soap tradition of the attractive but questionably young parent of teens, and I want to thank this show for making the

According to Zap2it some might see this as a dissapointment with 1.66 million viewers vanishing between the second half of “America’s Next Top Model” and the first half of “Gossip Girl” and that “Gossip Girl” lost 32 percent of its lead-in among adults 18-49.

Not surprisingly, The CW views the results a bit differently, emphasizing that “Gossip Girl” won its hour among women 18-34, teens and female teens. “Gossip Girl” retained 93 percent of the “ANTM” female teen audience and 79 percent of its 18-34 audience. The CW contextualizes that the 5.3 rating for “Gossip Girl” among teen females was better than the series debuts of “The OC,” “One Tree Hill,” “Gilmore Girls,” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” In that demo, it also performed 56 percent better than last season’s premiere of “One Tree Hill.”

I guess we will have to wait to see what the real ratings numbers are come next week but dont get to excited because these Fast National Ratings are always pretty close to what the actual numbers are.

He plays Nate Archibald, a latchkey teen with platinum credit cards but who drowns his sorrow in Champagne, pot and limo rides to hot spots. As Crawford jokes, “The research for this show was rough.”

The 22-year-old admits he hung out at certain upscale nightspots a little bit but, mostly, he says, he showed a rough cut of the pilot to the kinds of kids it portrays, and then asked them, “Is this even remotely real? And they said, ‘Yes, it is.’”

Crawford’s character is at the center of the show’s main triangle, a tug-of-war between onetime BFF’s Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and the mysteriously disappeared and just-returned Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively). Nate has been dating Blair since forever, but he slept with Serena right before she ran away and now, maybe, he just wants to be friends with both of them. Meanwhile, he’s all totally para about college and the feeling that maybe it isn’t so good to have everything handed to you on a silver platter.

It’s like “Sex and the City” without the warmth, since all the kids in this Manhattan high school are essentially on their own in a cutthroat world.

“Nate is definitely conflicted,” says Crawford. “So now I’m working hard on finding a lot of different ways to play conflicted.”

He’s certainly not conflicted about moving to New York City after a childhood living in Plano, Tex. His mom helped him move into an apartment in Chelsea he shares with fellow cast member Ed Westwick (who plays supercad Chuck Bass), and Crawford gets to explore the city he fell in love with via the movies.

But despite the high drama of “Gossip Girl,” don’t wait for scandalous stories about Crawford; he laughs off the leap to becoming a model during high school. “I just wanted to make some money,” he says, laughing some more when he’s told his character is described in the “Gossip Girl” book as “one of those boys you look at and, while you’re looking at them, you know they’re thinking, ‘That girl can’t take her eyes off me because I’m so hot.’”

After modeling, Crawford went to college, but soon found himself torn between his studies and his desire to act. He felt he wasn’t giving either path a real chance, so his dad counseled him to quit school and focus full time on a career. That led to 2006′s “The Covenant” (called “A B-movie ‘Charmed’ but with guys”), which opened at No. 1 at the box office.

Now he’s soaking up New York and, as an avid photographer, documenting both the streets and his “Gossip Girl” co-stars as the show continues shooting locally. Fans of the source books expect Crawford’s character to move on from the love triangle and fall for Jenny (Taylor Momsen).

“That could be awkward,” Crawford tips, “since the actress they cast in that role is really 14 years old!” He admits there may be sparks between those two characters, but says the show isn’t wedded either to the timeline of the books or their plot twists. As he says, “I think Nate’s going to be conflicted for quite awhile.”

Early in last night’s rollicking show, “Dan,” the character played by the brooding Penn Badgley, jumps into a cab and says one word to the driver: “Williamsburg!” He then flies over what is clearly the Brooklyn Bridge and winds up at his dad’s expansive loft, the exterior shots of which appear to have been filmed in DUMBO—just a few miles away from Williamsburg but a world apart. It looks like Schwartz’s time in the O.C. may have gotten him a little turned upside down.

Plus, last time we checked, a massive loft in DUMBO ran you around $1.8 million, though New York real estate blogs contend that the real loft is actually in tragically unhip Long Island City. So Schwartz’s notion that Dan, the property-blessed spawn of a rock star, is a soldier in some kind of class warfare is funny in and of itself.

But then Schwartz kicks it up a notch. Dan’s outer-borough pride boils over in a scene where he fights with Chuck, the show’s star sociopath, over his Brooklyn roots, snapping back at his taunts with the phrase, “Trash? I live in Brooklyn, not the Ozarks!”

While last week was definitely Long Island City week on Gossip Girl, this week’s version of the “exclusive” Upper East Side dropped squarely in Brooklyn Heights. The opening scene, featuring some sort of perverted choir singing Fergie’s “Glamorous,” was shot on location at Packer Collegiate Institute’s 3rd floor chapel. The gang revisited Packer later on at the contrived ‘Ivy’ reception, which went down in the school’s backyard garden. From there, the gang didn’t have to travel too far for their extracurriculars. The fantastic field hockey practice/Serena-Blair catfight took place only a few blocks away from the school at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge in Cadman Plaza Park.

It took about 56 minutes into the hour long episode before there was an actual uptown location spotted. The final rainy apology scene was beside the always stunning Bethesda Fountain, right smack in the middle of Central Park.

Also, a note on NYC’s private transportation…Someone should tell bad boy Chuck that nobody rides in stretch limousines anymore around New York City unless they’re bridge, tunnel or Eurotrash. Especially not ones with Taxi and Limousine Commission license plates. Have someone drive you around in a Black Suburban or Yukon the next time you want to stalk Serena around town. For starters, it’d be a tad less conspicuous.

Both Top Model and Gossip Girl handily won their respective time periods with teens (Top Model: 3.0/11 and Gossip Girl: 2.5/8) and female teens (Top Model: 5.2/18 and Gossip Girl: 4.3/14), lifting The CW to Wednesday’s the number one network overall teens (2.8/10) and female teens (4.8/16).

With the strong female appeal of Top Model and Gossip Girl, The CW also ranked as the number two network on Wednesday among women 18-34 (3.4/9), behind only ABC.

“Gossip” has gotten off to a soft start since its Sept. 19 debut, losing a significant portion of its “America’s Next Top Model” lead-in. However, the CW said the show has been gaining buzz online and on platforms like iTunes, where the two most recent episodes rank among the top five downloaded shows.

The network also said that the Sept. 19 premiere saw its target-demo ratings increase when DVR data was factored in, jumping 20% among adults 18-34, 21% in women 18-34 and 11% among female teens, according to Nielsen Media Research Live

Carrie was seen to hug Tony on the field on Christmas Day 2006 at Texas Stadium before the Cowboys’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles. She attended his birthday party in April 2007 and Tony escorted her to the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 15, 2007. Tony also attended Carrie’s performance at the American Idol finale on May 23.

However, late in May The National Enquirer reported that Romo had called a “timeout” on the relationship until the end of football season.

Carrie has steadfastly maintained that she and Tony were friends.

“We’re very good friends, and I talk to him pretty much every day, whether it’s a text or whatever. But we were never, like, dating.” she tell Seventeen magazine for their forthcoming issue.

She also recently said, “I’d like to have someone other than my mom to call when I have good news.”

Carrie’s rep refused to say anything on the issue telling OK!, “We do not comment on her personal life.”

Article: Penn Badgley has been acting for the past eight years, but it is only now with his role on The CW’s Gossip Girl that he has gotten a taste of fame and celebrity.

Badgley, however, remains very modest about his newfound success. Although he knows he is the series’ first break-out star, he is quick to commend his Gossip Girl costars.  “It’s a great cast all around,” he told the New York Post.  “In a lot of teen soap operas, you have a lot of pretty faces and maybe not a lot of talent, but I really do feel that there isn’t a weak link in the Gossip Girl cast.”

Still, he does feel like the acting veteran among the cast, having starred in several short-lived and quickly forgotten series like Do Over, The Mountain and The Bedford Diaries, all three of which aired on the WB, the predecessor of the CW.

We finally have our first singing group being featured on the show for the December 5th episode.  The Pierces, a sister act out of New York City will appear in the episode entitled “Hi Society,” the duo will play two of its songs, “Secret” and “Three Wishess.”  It will portray the band playing the Debutante Ball during the hour long episode.

AfterEllen.com posted that an E!News reporter has confirmed that there will be at least one same-sex incident, but gave no further details.

What do you guys think about this?!  Are you for it, or do you think primetime TV might not be ready?  Do you think it’ll be girl-on-girl or guy-on-guy?  And most importantly: WHO do you think will be involved?!

Considering how many times Nate has woken up at Chuck’s place, I have to be a little suspicious of those too.  But Serena and Blair have both proven that they’re capable of almost anything once they have a few drinks in them…(Serena’s night with Nate?  Blair dancing onstage at Chuck’s burlesque place?!)

And remember how Blair told Serena that her father moved away with another man?  I’m honestly a little scared that they’ll show her dad in some guy-on-guy action…Now I’m a very liberal person, but there’s an age limit on who I’m willing to see do that kind of stuff (regardless of the gender of those involved)!

Don’t believe me?  Think of your 13-year-old cousin who just had to have an iPod for Christmas last year.  Mommy swooped in with her credit card and got it for her, didn’t she?  Or what about the increasing number of young girls begging and pleading for Juicy Couture sweats and Coach purses?  Isn’t it a little scary when you see how successful these girls are at wrangling every last cent out of their parents?  If you still don’t agree, at least consider this Philadelphia Inquirer article, titled ‘Where tweens go, big dollars follow.”

A big part of the article focuses on the recent Hannah Montana concert tickets debacle—ticket brokers immediately swept up the tickets before anyone else had the chance, and Miley Ray Cyrus (who plays Hannah Montana, her alter ego) had to add more tour dates to make up for it.  One young girl was so desperate for tickets that she pulled a few strings, and had friend-of-the-family Lindsay Lohan call into a radio station (and ultimately end up dishing about her recent life changes) just to win some tickets!  These girls aren’t kidding around.  And the combination of wanting to conform and not having any appreciation for the value of money means these girls see no reason not to beg their parents for anything and everything they want.  So ultimately, if you can target your product to this demographic, you can guarantee a profit.

Stephanie Savage, the executive producer of Gossip Girl, told the Philadelphia Inquirer, “Girls are the original consumers, and the last of the shoppers.”

Think that a teen drama couldn’t possibly appeal to younger girls?  Think again.  Josh Schwartz, creator and executive producer of GG and the O.C., pointed out, “They want the thing that’s slightly out of their grasp, that’s not completely age-appropriate.”  I have to admit, I was reading Seventeen magazine by the time I was thirteen.  And by the time I was seventeen?  I had long since moved on to Vogue.  “If you don’t market a teen drama to the core group of younger girls, you’re in trouble,” Schwartz added.

It makes sense, doesn’t it?  You’re at that age of extreme social pressure, accompanied by an incessant need to feel accepted and liked by your peers.  You HAVE to have the Abercrombie jeans.  If you don’t, everyone will notice and no one will sit with you at lunch.  But next week, it’s not the jeans, it’s something else…and the next week, a new must-have item.  It may be adding up quick, but it’s all going on Mommy and Daddy’s credit card bills, which you never see nor worry about.  And you’ve never had a real job, so you’ve never cultivated an appreciation for money.  If you’ve ever been a tween girl yourself, you probably remember this phase…and you probably owe your mother several lavish shopping trips as a result of it.

Speaking of lavish shopping trips, I was checking out InStyle.com for some online shopping ideas when I stumbled across this: Chace Crawford and Hayden Panettiere at the Z100 Jingle Ball!  I hope that this picture doesn’t lead to more allegations of celeb romance…I feel like every day I hear that Chace is with someone new!   I guess when you’re one of the stars of Gossip Girl, gossip about your own life becomes inevitable.

And because Chuck is back. I seriously missed his evil grin. Am I the only one who thinks he and Blair make a perfect couple? The ice queen and the devil. I love it.

In case you missed it, the episode was about a party– and the consequences of that party. When Serena, Blair, and all their high-society buddies break into the school pool building to throw a drunken party, one kid gets hurt, and they all get caught. But who’s the one who broke in? The new headmistress at the school is going to find out, come hell or high water.

Hey, that’s a teen party for you. It’s all “oh yeah” until somebody smashes their head and bleeds in the pool.

Since parties definitely feature in this episode, later on you’ll find some very special party music. If you’re a big fan of Chuck Bass, his conniving ways, and his naughty smile, you may have spotted the punky sounds of his UK-based punk rock band, The Filthy Youth, playing during Blair’s “study group” party. Yep, Ed Westwick, who plays Chuck on the show, has a band. And The Filthy Youth’s sound is almost as fun and rebellious as Chuck himself.

During this scene, you can hear “Come Flash all Your Ladies” followed by “Orange.”The fast tempo and angry guitar makes for the perfect music to accompany Chuck’s rebellion against Dan’s desire to tell the truth, as well as Vanessa’s mutiny in the face of Chuck’s always-imperious demands to give him what he wants. In this case, he wants the video of Blair confessing she slept with him. Good for you, Vanessa. Somebody needs to tell Chuck that when he says “jump,” the answer isn’t always “how high.”

But “School Lies,” wasn’t just about teenagers hanging out and partying. It was also about compromise and doing the right thing. During the episode, several characters make difficult choices to protect the ones they love. It’s a rather heartbreaking moment when Lily tells Dan’s dad, Rufus, that she can’t be with him. The song chosen for that scene, “Come Home” by One Republic, expresses perfectly what Lily and Rufus must be feeling. “Come home, cause I’ve been waiting for you so long

First it’s Serena, caught buying the test and reported by none other than Gossip Girl herself.  Dan finds out in about two milliseconds and promises to do the right thing.  I knew he was a sweetie pie.  He’s a keeper, Serena.  

But Serena bought the test is for Blair, who, being the spoiled princess she is, refuses to take it.  Because if Miss Princess doesn’t want to be pregnant, then she’s not pregnant. Serena, well-intentioned as she is, can’t seem to mind her own business in the episode; she goes to Chuck to talk about Blair’s potential pregnancy.  Chuck says it’s not his.
 

And Blair eventually gives in and takes the test. Crying, happy, she calls Serena to tell her that the test came out negative.  She thinks that’s the end of it, but those of us who have been watching Gossip Girl TV know that it’s not.  This kind of gossip doesn’t just die in the rich kid set.

Sure enough, Blair has to piss Chuck off (she’s very good at this) and he rats her out to Gossip Girl. In true Gossip Girl fashion, the whole school knows in just about three seconds (and you thought you liked cell phones!), and poor Blair is ostracized faster than you can say “teenage mom.” Seeing how quick her friends turn on her almost makes me glad I’m not rich.  Almost.

The Queen Bee has been kicked off her throne.  

Of course some other things happen in this episode, too.  Dan tells Serena he loves her, and Serena has to deal with her emotional issues before she has the guts to tell him she loves him, too.  But we know they love each other, as they’re constantly (and sometimes sickeningly) lovey-dovey, so this doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

The big surprises fall elsewhere in the Humphrey family. Jenny’s turning almost as evil as Blair, ratting her affair with Chuck out to Nate. And it looks like she’s gonna be the new Queen Bee. And Rufus is getting popular with the ladies: two dates on one night, and a near-catfight. Good for you, Rufus!

Episode 13, “A Thin Line Between Chuck and Nate” starts off with the song “Got Ur Number” by Nadia Oh.  If you’ve heard this song or listen closely to the lyrics, it’s enough to make you laugh out loud… because this is the Gossip Girl song playing when Serena is caught buying a pregnancy test.  And it seems like everybody has somebody to call (someone’s number) to report what was spotted. Good thing Serena didn’t have much of a reputation to begin with.
 

The next piece of Gossip Girl music you’ll hear is “You’ll Change” by Machine Translations. This song plays while Nate is asking Blair to go with him to visit his father in rehab.  And it’s true– things have changed between Blair and Nate.  For the first time, Blair finally feels like Nate really is beginning to need and rely on her.  This doesn’t last long after Nate finds out about Blair and Chuck…  I guess that’s a sort of change, too. Poor Blair.

“The Air We Breathe” is a sad, quiet song, and it’s the song you’ll hear playing when Blair is walking alone, remember her relationship with Nate, feeling heartbroken by all that she’s lost.  “Do you feel you’re close to me?” the song asks, and it must be just what Blair’s asking… because she’s further from Nate than ever.

The last of the Gossip Girl songs in Episode 13 is “Happily Never After” by Nichole Scherzinger.  It’s a sweet, sad little long that is the perfect backdrop to Blair trying to run away to France… and Serena convincing her to stay.  “My whole life is falling apart,” Blair says.  It sounds like her happily never after is staring her in the face, and she still decides to stay and face it.  To hold her ground.  Good for Blair.

The Gossip Girl TV show crew is now preparing for their return to New York City in March to shoot new episodes of the CW drama.

Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester seems to be particularly excited to see her Gossip Girl crew mates. “But everyone really wants to get back to work cause as nice as it is to have a little vacation, we’re all so fun together. And going to work we all get kinds of kooky, especially me. It’s really, really fun! Everyone’s been living like crazy lives so it’ll be nice to settle back down and have dinner parties at each other’s houses.” Leighton said in her interview for OK! Magazine in this February 19 2008.

Serena and Chuck begin their cohabitation as Lily and Bart combine residences prior to their wedding. We get a hint that things are not all peaches and cream between the two as Serena is seen banging away at her bathroom door while Chuck coolly takes his time. Things between the almost family go from cool to walking on eggshells as the episode progresses. Bart asks Chuck to be his best man and the family goes through wedding taste testing, but the surprise packages that Serena starts receiving has both parents taking a second look at each of their children.

Meanwhile at school, Jenny is setting herself up to learn just how bitchy Blair can be. A little yogurt in the hair prank has Nate warning Jenny about Blair and what kind of pain she is capable on inflicting. Jenny invites drama as she continues to try and keep up with the Jones’ and steals a Valentino dress from Hazel’s mom to trade in a consignment shop. A surprise birthday catches her in the act, but all is kind of forgiven in the end and Jenny rejoins the crew at Butter.

As the episode closes Serena finds out who the secret packages have been coming from, Georgina, and both Chuck and Serena look less than happy.

It’s been more than three months since we last seen Gossip Girl Episode 13. The wait is over now. Here is the all new Gossip Girl Episode 14. In this Episode 14, Blair will be trying to get her way back to the top with the help of her BFF Serena after she have been dethroned by sweet little Jenny Humphrey.

Not one to let things get at all boring, Gossip Girl brings bad girl Georgina into the mix to ruffle everyone’s feathers. Last episode saw Blair and Chuck alarmed by Georgina’s contact with them, and sure enough she makes an entrance on this episode, Desperately Seeking Serena, and deep into the lives of the characters. SAT prep and more Blair schemes play out around the Georgina and Serena reunion.

Georgina wastes no time moving in on the group of friends, especially Serena. Despite Serena’s obvious reluctance to join Georgina on her escapades, S and G head out for a night on the town and Serena ends up skipping out on Dan and their study session. Asking Chuck to lie for her isn’t the smartest move and Dan doesn’t believe Chuck or Serena, later catching Serena in her lie. Not learning from her first mistake Serena again goes out with Georgina on what should be a tame dinner, but instead turns out with Georgina drugging Serena causing her to miss the SATs.

Blair’s world see’s action as well as multitasks and plans a pre-SAT party and a scheme to bring down a fellow Yale student wannabe. Student Nelly Yuki is at first resistant to Blair’s attempts at feigned friendship, but when Blair finds out about Nelly’s no longer boyfriend she is able to sabotage Nelly’s hopes at passing the SAT’s and getting into Yale.

In the meantime, Dan and Chuck share words about the others involvement in Serena’s life. Jenny meets a very handsome dog walker, and her father begins to forgive her for pawning off so many of her belongings by buying her another sewing machine. Things continue to heat up between Vanessa and Nate after a date and later the SATs. The episode ends with Serena telling Georgina to stay out of her life, but when Georgina begins referring to events in their past you know it isn’t going to end there.

Plenty of questions in the air in this new Gossip Girl Episode 15, most probably one of the best Gossip Girl episodes ever that any Gossip Girl fan will love.

In All About My Brother, a gossip wars flares between Blair and Jenny as each tries to outdo the other with ridiculous and embarrassing half truths. While the gossip war between the two may provide entertainment, it really acts as fuel to the fire when it leads to the revelation of two out of three huge secrets that are dropped in this episode. Serena, Asher and Eric are the ones keeping back secrets, but when Jenny finds herself caught up in the mess she dives right in instead of running the other way. Blair and Georgina play roles that they know best, instigators.

Dan finds out about Asher’s secret relationship, with an unknown male, and tries to warn Jenny after realizing that Asher is not about to own up to it. When Gossip Girl gets wind of the rumor Jenny finds out the truth directly from Asher who makes light of the situation and acts like Jenny was supposed to already know. Instead of walking away from the entire situation Jenny thinks only of keeping up with her friends and decides to play along with Asher.

Meanwhile, Georgina has befriended Dan while pretending to be an out of towner by the name of Sarah. “Sarah” convinces Dan into introducing her to Serena, but before that can happen Georgina weasels her way into a family dinner where she outs Eric to his family. Eric and Blair then team up to out the lying Asher at his own party, and when Jenny still continues to cover up for Asher, Eric admits that it was him seen with Asher earlier in the day.

Dan and Sarah manage to get that meet up with Serena who is shocked to find out what Georgina has been up to since she last saw her. After Georgina scares Serena off, Serena goes to Blair and spills her big secret; she killed someone.

Did I say that Gossip Girl episode 15 was probably one of the best? Well Episode 16 “All About My Brother” is definitely one of the best ever. A bomb is about to be revealed and Gossip Girl’s inbox is going to be full. But which secret are we talking about here!?

Woman On the Verge brings a whole new dose of drama, but it also shows us a different side of the characters we have come to know. After Serena shares her secret with Blair, the entire group of friends rallies around her and is genuinely concerned about her best interests. Old and new relationships are tested and brought into the light and in the end some things end up being forgiven, but new faults are created.

Instead of coming clean to Dan about where she has been and what is going on, Serena decides to lie to him about her past. She also tells Dan that she slept with some guy that she had met the night before so that he would no longer expect that she was hiding something from him. In the meantime, Blair, Nate and Chuck are trying to help Serena figure out how to deal with the details of the night a boy died in from of herself and Georgina from a cocaine overdose.

Lily suspects that Serena is falling back into her old party ways and discovers a tape that Georgina is using to continue blackmailing Serena. After threatening Serena with reform school, Blair lets Lily in on the details of Georgina’s deceit and Serena’s guilt. Serena is able to forgive herself for the night that changed her life with the help of the dead overdose victim’s parents and Lily’s help.

In the meantime, Georgina continues her charade with Dan and comes clean about her name but not her past. When Georgina finds out that Serena told the truth about their last wild night together and that everyone is on to her lies she convinces Dan to leave Rufus’ concert with her. Georgina upsets Serena further by texting her a message that she is going to sleep with Dan to get back at her.

Gossip Girl Last week’s episode 16 was so awesome to the point that I cannot imagine how it could be better. This week Gossip Girl Episode 17 definitely makes this show one of the best TV Shows on the CW.

Much I Do About nothing is the perfect example of a season finale, tying up loose strings while creating new ones at the same time. Relationships that seemed stable are crumbling all over the place, and relationships that seemed to be over are flourishing. All the actions takes place around the wedding of Lily and Bert, except for the part where Lily wakes up in Rufus’ bed.

Thanks to the scheming, for good this time, of Blair, Chuck and Dan, Georgina is outed in front of her parents. Serena finds Georgina in Dan’s apartment when she stops in before the wedding starts, from the looks of it something happened between the two. Serena comes clean to Dan about everything that happened between her and Georgina and how she was being blackmailed. Even though Dan has a hard time taking in all the new news and forgiving Serena for lying to him the entire time, he works with Blair to get Georgina to walk right into a well laid trap. Georgina’s parents find out about all her lies, manipulating and drug addiction and tell her she is going to reform school.

Meanwhile, Bert and Lily come to an understanding regarding their past and their past relationships before they head into the church. Rufus still holds out hope that Lily will come back to him, but Lily lets him know otherwise. The wedding takes place with Serena unable to keep her emotions in check, not because she is happy, but because she is afraid she and Dan will not survive the day’s events. After the service Dan tells Serena that he is not able to forgive her for what she did and wants to break up.

The drama continues through the reception as old friends mend bridges and old flames are reignited. Blair and Chuck end up deciding to try out the relationship thing one more time, after Blair sees a different side of Chuck. Chuck and Nate end up understanding each other and reestablishing their friendship after Nate’s father tells him he is leaving the country to avoid jail time.

Just when it seems some things have worked themselves out, we find out that Chuck is not over his bad boy reputation and that Serena and Nate might be so alone after all.

Gossip Girl Episode 18 is the Gossip Girl Season Finale. Gossip Girl Season 2 will kick off in August and the first episode will air in September. Now it’s time to wish the Upper East Siders a very scandalous summer. You know you love it. XOXO.

Moon River is one of the most memorable songs from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and it is fitting that the Blair’s own Breakfast scene opened with the tunes from Moon River. In fact, all the songs paired to Blair’s scenes are right on. Other songs and groups featured on Gossip Girl in this episode that you should look out for are; Rippin’ Up The Disco by Kylie Minogue, Drive Me Crazy by Miss Eighty 6 and finally On the Run by Classic.

Rippin Up The Disco tears out as Blair heads to the bar at Butter thinking very well of herself and how she has handled her friends and the whole Jenny issue. Drive Me Crazy also plays on as Blair dines by herself at Butter, and finally On The Run begins as Blair waits for the rest of the girls to join her at the restaurant.

Another song that has been getting a lot of buzz is Sour Cherry by the Kills which played as Nate helped Jenny make her way coolly back into the beehive. The snappishly instigating song continued to play as Serena made her way over to Chuck’s place to apologize and reveal that Georgina was back in town. Earlier in the episode Backseat Taxi by Silvermoney plays in the background as Rufus calls Jenny while she is busying making birthday plans with her friends and wanders into Hazel’s mom’s closet.

Two songs that played early in the episode and deserve a mention are tunes by The Teenagers and The Deadly Syndrome. As Dan and Serena make out in her bedroom, Chuck lets himself in and invites Dan to stay for the tasting session. Feeling Better by The Teenagers comes on in the background to accompany Chuck’s invitation. Before that, the monotone sounds of indie group Deadly Syndrome bust out as Rufus and Dan try to figure out Jenny’s schedule.

Gossip Girl continues to bring fresh music to each and every episode from a roundup of indie bands just making a name for themselves or already favorites with a huge fan following. In, Desperately Seeking Serena the music is loud and rocking, but every song has just the perfect lyrics to capture the mood of each scene. Here are the songs played, the bands that played them and where each tune was played in this episode of Gossip Girl.

The upcoming SATs that the entire crew must undergo is the source of much stress, anticipation and of course thoughts about the future. Two songs in this week’s episode are dedicated to highlight and accompany the group as they go along with all the necessary preparations for the big day. Do The Panic by Phantom Planet opens the episode and bops along through an SAT prep monologue and a couple other SAT related scenes. Later in the episode Campus by Vampire Weekend comes in while Dan, Vanessa and Nate discuss the upcoming tests.

Three tracks follow Georgina and Serena around town and as they let loose and find trouble. Party beat Crimewave by Crystal Castles vs. Health plays while old buddies Georgina and Serena start off the night over drinks. Later in the night, and the episode, the now intoxicated duo party the night away to the song Nice Sweet Sexy by DLFX ft. Imperio & Cru. Finally, Georgina employs her best scheming to get Serena out for dinner and the tunes of The Ting Tings, We Started Nothing plays in the background.

Back at Blair’s SAT party, poor Nelly is a victim to Blair’s cunning scheme. In order to rattle Nelly while she is studying Blair plays music that is sure to keep anyone from concentrating. For this scene Elevator by Flo Rida featuring Timbaland is the song of choice.

Great drama needs great music, and that is exactly what this episode delivers. True to every other episode new music accompanies scenes, and then there are the familiar tunes to even out the show.

Starting from the beginning, as Georgina pretends to be Sarah and chats with Vanessa at her work the sounds of Good To Be Alive by Joey Sykes fills the caf. The song fades a little into the background but the tune can still be heard as Dan enters the caf and meets the two girls. Music follows Georgina all the way to Serena’s place where a new tune picks up as she joins the family for dinner. Say (All I Need) by One Republic breaks in and out of the dinner conversation; a conversation where Georgina ends up outing Eric to his entire family.

As Lily prepares for her wedding the perfect clips from Gossip Girl regulars The Kills, and classical music set the mood. While Lily is out and about Cheap and Cheerful by The Kills leads up to the moment that she runs into Rufus. As the two engage in a conversation over Jenny, Beethoven’s, Sonata for Violin and Piano, No. 5 in F Major slowly starts to build up. The music gains in volume as Lily tries on her wedding dress and models it for Rufus, who obviously sees something he wants.

Jenny’s party requires music and the two songs that we here during this time totally set up the party and the drama that goes down. While Jenny is chatting with her friends and lying about her relationship with Asher Shut Up & Let Me Go by The Ting Tings can be heard playing. Things change up a little when Eric and Blair crash the party to out Asher; Paralyzer by Finger Eleven says it all.

Finally, another selection by The Kills makes its way into another episode. When Serena is surprised to meet Dan’s new friend, ‘Sarah’, U.R. A. Fever by The Kills plays. Later when Serena is confessing to Blair on the stairs the same song comes on again.

Woman On The Verge is a pretty hefty episode, and the music choices are as varied as the emotions and roles that each character takes on. The sounds of jazz and soothing melodies paired with touching lyrics fill the silence. As a bonus, GG band, Lincoln Hawk plays a cover of Pieces of Me by Song and Wagner. The band is playing the song at the very end of the episode, when Georgina has left the concert with Dan and the rest of the gang arrives at the concert to confront her.

There are more songs paired to Georgina scenes in this episode than any other. At the very beginning of the episode there is a montage of Georgina trying to repeatedly get a hold of Serena and phoning her non stop. During the montage Cities In Dust by Junkie XL featuring Lauren Rocket plays and leads into the scene where Lily begins to search Serena’s room. When Georgina lies to Dan in order to get him to leave with her and dispel any rumors, Stay by Lisa Loeb plays in the background.

Strong music follows Serena as she goes through her revelation of and then deals with the secret she has kept for a year. When Serena’s mom finds and plays the sex tape that Georgina was using to blackmail Serena, Off the Wall by Cham Pain begins. As the sex tape continues and Lily keeps watching Hook and Line by The Kills gets louder and louder. The same song returns later when Serena reveals her story and cries over the kiss that Dan and Georgina shared.

Finally, when Blair and Chuck treat Serena like the friend she is and come to her defense at Lily and Bart’s rehearsal dinner, Fight Song by Republic Tigers plays. Jazz can be heard in the background later when Blair informs Lily that what Serena needs is a mother and not a discipliner.

Much of the final episode of Gossip Girl revolves around the wedding of Lily and Bert, so understandably there is a lot of classical music used in the scenes. But, there is enough room to squeeze in a few pop songs and the choices aren’t all that bad. Some of the groups already have a lot of exposure, but one or two of the selections feature new sounds.

Before the wedding begins Blair and Dan scheme to expose Georgina and her lies to her parents, when they all meet in the park Do You Wanna by The Kooks plays along as Georgina learns about her future home. Beautiful World by Carolina Liar plays in the background as Serena desperately tries to get in contact with Dan and then leaves a message that she is coming over. This same song is played again at Lily and Bart’s wedding as well as a lot of classical selection and other songs that add to the festive mood.

As family and friends are arriving for the wedding and the place is buzzing with pre wedding preparations, Time To Pretend by MGMT drives the action. After a classical piece, Bridal Chorus by Wagner begins to play. This necessary song is followed by two more classical pieces that play through the wedding reception and then through Blair and Vanessa’s conversation about Nate.

The final song of the episode was the very appropriate, The Ice is Getting Thinner by Death Cab For Cutie. This song plays through the entire ending of the wedding including, while Chuck is making his best man speech at the wedding, when Blair and Chuck kiss, and as Serena and Dan are forced to dance after they have just broken up. Do You Wanna by The Kooks returns for the closing montage and the end of the season.

Serena, Nate and Chuck are summering in the Hamptons, but Serena and Nate’s rumored summer romance is just a cover. Instead, Nate is involved with an older woman who happens to be married and Serena seems to be spending her time alone or with the occasional date. Chuck enters the season with a couple topless girls on the beach, but his mind quickly turns to Blair when word spreads about her return.

Not one to let her true feelings be known, Blair returns in the arms of another man– James. In reality, James is just a guy she met and is not at all into, but he serves the purpose of helping her make Chuck jealous.

All attention is quickly turned to the White Party, a super exclusive, end of the summer event. Blair invites James to go with her, Chuck only decides to go after he suspects that James isn’t actually who he says he is and Jenny gets busy trying to find a way in. After spending an entire summer interning at Eleanor Waldorf’s studio, Jenny gets nowhere in the eyes of her boss and her designs and hope of going to the White Party are turned down. Instead, she phones Eric, apologizes for how she treated him and he invites her along.

With some encouragement from Serena’s mom, Dan goes to the White Party with the hope of reconciling things with Serena. Instead he walks in to see Serena and Nate engaged in a serious public display of affection, which was only started to get Nate’s secret mistress who is at the party with her husband jealous after she told him the relationship was over. After confronting Serena, two girls that Dan was seeing at the same time during his summer internship meet each other, put two and two together and then confront Dan.

Jenny impresses her boss with Eric’s help and connections, and her dress is a hit. But, the real story unfolds as James realizes that Blair was just using him to make Chuck jealous. Blair comes clean and feeling guilty, James reveals a little secret of his own– he is really a British lord! Chuck seems to find out the news, compliments of his P.I. at about the same time and makes a move to get Blair’s attention one last time before she leaves.

In the end, Blair leaves with James and Serena and Dan head out together, but if anything is to come from it remains to be seen.

Reverse of Shade runs through the recap of last year and plays into scenes of summer with several of the main characters. Just as the new scenes of summer begin with Nate and his new best friend locked together at the jaw, the track Buzzin from Shwayze belts on in the background. The lyrics fit the mood perfectly even as Serena passes Chuck on the beach with a set of topless beach bunnies.

Another catch all song in the show was Fell in Love Without You by Motion City Soundtrack, which does a good job of capturing the strife, heartache and denial that most of the characters are so obviously feeling over each other. The song plays through two of Chuck scenes, including his trip to the airport to welcome Blair home only to see her with another man. The show ends with the song as well when Dan and Serena make up and meet on the beach after the White Party.

The rest of the show takes on an upbeat that is reflected with faster music and more of a poppy beat. At the White Party, Google Me by Teyana Taylor plays in the background as everyone mingles. Later, when Nate needs help making Catherine jealous, Paparazzi by Lady GaGa fills the void.

Two other songs, that have a special meaning of their own, are Crazy and Break it Down. Crazy by Jem plays during Blair and Serenas catch up on summer gossip session and Break it Down by Alana D. goes right on through another one of Nate and Catherines secret rendezvous.

Last episode left us wondering if Blair would break down and give Chuck another chance, even though she said goodbye and left the White Party with her new boyfriend. It seems like there is no going back for Blair though, at least not right away. Now that she knows all about Marcus true identity, it is her chance to prove herself worthy of him.

Eager to meet the rest of the family, Blair asks Marcus when she will be introduced the Duke and Duchess. To her surprise, she is shot down by Marcus and learns that she will have to wait, but Chuck has taken the situation into his own hands again and has a surprise up his sleeve.

While at a party in Manhattan with Blair, Chuck, Serena and Marcus in attendance, Chuck introduces the Duchess to Blair. Only Blair does not realize that the female Chuck has brought with him is the Duchess and she attempts to put her down. Realizing her mistake, Blair showers the Duchess with compliments, but will it be too late? And will the Duchess tell Marcus about Blairs rudeness? For now, it seems like good old Chuck has come out on top again.

Marcus does what he can to keep Blair from meeting the Duchess, but the more he tries, the more pushy Blair becomes. In an attempt to keep Chuck away from Marcus, Blair recruits the help to put together a last minute Welcome Home party. The party also serves Blairs desire to prove to Marcus that she is worthy of him.

Like most of her conniving schemes, the party ends up backfiring on Blair when no one is enjoying themselves and a bunch of total strangers keep the party from impressing anyone. Just when Blair thinks the party cannot get any worse Chuck shows up, with a guest, and things get very interesting, very fast. Chuck arranges to meet the Duchess and takes her to Blairs party where Blair is quick to insult Chucks supposed date.

Knowing who Blair is, the Duchess introduces herself as Marcus step mom and makes it clear to Blair that she is not good enough for him. Things come to a head Gossip Girl style when Nate ends up walking in on the meeting between girlfriend and step mom, and Serena has the pleasure of introducing Blairs ex to Catherine and the mother of Blairs new love interest to Nate. Awkward!

Still stressing over the impression she made on Catherine, Blair walks in on Nate and Catherine in a very compromising position in her library. Now that the tables have turned, Blair is able to weasel the approval of the Duchess that she so desperately sought, and Marcus is none the wiser.

Meanwhile, Serena and Dans relationship heats up and they wake up on the beach the morning after they made up. Serena insists on taking things slow though, so that they can work out the problems that they had when they first broke up. Neither of them is really able to stick to the plan though and a bus trip ends up with the two of them making a rendezvous in the bus bathroom.

Nate and his family have major problems of their own, and I can see this creating future problems for Nate as the season progresses. With his fathers disappearance, the FBI is putting pressure on his mother and has frozen all their accounts and assets. Chuck finds out and sells some of his stock in order to give Nates mother a personal loan. Later, Nate tells Catherine about the money flow problem and she also hands him a very thick envelope.

In the meantime, Vanessa makes her way into Nates life again, even if just for a moment. Nate actually comes to her when he has no one to talk to, but as soon as Catherine shows up Nate stands up his dinner plans with Vanessa and then calls to apologize. In true Gossip Girl style, the status of more than one relationship is open to questioning and there is the potential for anything to happen.

The show starts out with everyone expressing frustration over their relationships, or lack of. Nate and Vanessa talk about getting together over the phone, Catherine hears parts of the conversation and becomes suspicious. In the meantime, Blair becomes frustrated with Marcus when he insists on taking things slow.

Gossip Girl catches a shot of Serena and Dan making out in public and does them the favor of letting the rest of Manhattan know they are back together. The pair then has the work of answering everyones questions about their renewed relationship, but Blair tells Serena that she doubts that they will be together for long.

When Nate and Vanessa finally get the chance to meet up, Catherine follows the pair and then calls Blair to find out who Nates new interest is. Blair lets Catherine in on Vanessas identity and history, and then hatches a plan with Catherine. Blair takes a trip to Brooklyn to pop in on Vanessa and Nate, inviting them to her party where the couple is bound to run into Catherine.

Wanting to get out from under Catherines thumb, Nate approaches Chuck to borrow the money that Chuck offered his mother. Nate then finds out that Chuck no longer has the money and goes back to Catherine. A Japanese stewardess shows up at Chucks place, and Chuck later tells Serena that he is having a hard time with the women.

Jenny hits heads first with her boss, and then designer Waldorf after she shares her opinion on a dress that she is styling for a model. Before she can leave, the power goes out in New York and Jenny is stuck in the studio with Waldorf.

At Blairs party Nate is in attendance with Catherine when Vanessa shows up on her own after Nate told her he can no longer make it. Chuck hits on Blair, but she turns him down before going to find Marcus. Once the power goes out Nate takes the opportunity to tell Vanessa that Catherine is basically blackmailing him into the relationship.

Nate vows to end the relationship, but while the power is out Catherine finds Vanessa and threatens to expose the whereabouts of Nates dad if Vanessa does not end their relationship. Vanessa tells Nate the relationship is over and leaves.

Back at her place, Serena and Dan get stuck in the elevator during the blackout and attempt to resolve the relationship issues that they have been ignoring. Before the power comes back on, Serena and Dan decide that their relationship is over because neither can get over the past.

The most shocking event was saved for last when Chuck and Blair end up making out in her room while the lights are out. Marcus walks in on the two of them, but Blair tries to lie her way out of it. In front of the entire party Blair and Marcus fight, and it ends with Blair telling Marcus she does not feel desired by him because he does not act like he wants her.

Marcus and Blair end up making out on the stairs in front of everyone, but especially Chuck who obviously has a flame for her still.
